Our Outdoor Learning

At Kiddy Academy Day Nurseries we focus on the importance of outdoor learning. We understand the significance and impact for children that the wider community offers to the health, wellbeing and cultural values.

Outdoor play

Kiddy Academy is  focused on providing exciting nurturing environments, our nurseries incorporate dedicated safe garden spaces for all age groups. We enhance the areas so children have an holistic experience, children of all ages have opportunities to engage and explore in our exciting outdoor spaces every day. Our outdoor environments focus on play, we include child initiated and adult led teaching sessions and all teachable moments are captured to encourage the holistic development of children. We believe that time spent outdoors in all weathers contributes to children’s health, wellbeing, and development. 

Outings 

Our nurseries are well equipped with 6 seater prams for our youngest children, ensuring safety and planning is integrated into our engaging Kiddy Academy curriculum. All children wear high visible vests as part of our risk assessment procedures. 

Children get excited as they particularly enjoy outings, they wholeheartedly embrace their evolving skills as natural investigators and explorers, observing the traffic patterns and noises in outdoor environments. 

We have collaborated with our local care homes as part of our community involvement commitment. The children have developed rewarding connections with the residents, and staff. Our care home visits are special occasions for the children who enjoy showcasing their yoga poses and participate in engaging activities. 

Our curriculum is enriched with engaging outings and trips on foot and various public transports to local parks, libraries, shops and markets with our intention for the children to have time away from indoors, lots of fresh air, natural light  and engage with nature. We encourage our highly qualified staff to focus on capturing all teachable moments that occur during outdoor activities.
